Walking Dead

As some of you may know, AMC's The Walking Dead is premiering at 8pm Central, which is in about 45 Min, which is a pretty big deal because as we all know it is possibly the greatest TV show on the planet. While sitting in my quiet yet urgent sense of OMG!!!! WHY ARE YOU TORMENTING ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, I came to the realization that since about 4pm , I have been trying to occupy myself but have failed. Horribly. So this post has nothing to do with philosophy, but it has everything to do with this insane tormentation that my love of zombies and tv has brought me. comment and tell me what you did to occupy yourself during the long, agonizing wait

Walking Dead

So I have been watching AMC's the walking dead. If you do not know what that is, it's a TV series about a group of survivors trying to live through the Zombie apocalypse. In it, one of the main characters' son gets shot by a stranger, who then proceeds to help him. however, the son gets extremely close to death and they debate whether or not to let him slip into the next life. one of the arguments used is "what does he really have to live for?" Which made me think, what do any of us have to live for? We each need to find that one thing that gives us the courage to keep moving through this life filled with pain. Without the proper motivation, we waste our lives either trying to chase down all the money we can, or ditching our families for that promotion that is just out of reach. we all need to reevaluate our priorities. for me, I always try to put either God or Family first. Followed by school and work. Remember, you never see a U-Haul behind a hearse.
Once again, comment, tell me what you think.

The unexamined life

Socrates once said that the unexamined life is not worth living. how many of us actually stop to examine our lives? You would be hard-pressed to find somebody who "stops and smells the roses", let alone someone who picks the rose, examines it, and actually enjoys the little break from this hectic life. though "structured" society would not permit it, one of my dreams is to actually own my own land, without having to pay taxes to a government that took it over illegally in the first place, and just living off the land with a family. instead, this society we live in forces us to live life fast and die young. the biggest reason fast food companies are doing so well; despite the fact that they are the equivalent of eating a tub of lard in between fried buns, is because of the limited time most people have because of this extremely fast-paced society. as a society, we all need to slow down and examine our lives; what makes us truly happy (don't even think the answer is money), what makes us feel whole, and as a result of this examination, we can stop trying to fill the hole in all of us with cash.
Lemme know what you think, post comments, and I promise I'll read them.
