Walking Dead

As some of you may know, AMC's The Walking Dead is premiering at 8pm Central, which is in about 45 Min, which is a pretty big deal because as we all know it is possibly the greatest TV show on the planet. While sitting in my quiet yet urgent sense of OMG!!!! WHY ARE YOU TORMENTING ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, I came to the realization that since about 4pm , I have been trying to occupy myself but have failed. Horribly. So this post has nothing to do with philosophy, but it has everything to do with this insane tormentation that my love of zombies and tv has brought me. comment and tell me what you did to occupy yourself during the long, agonizing wait

zombie massacre

Have you ever noticed how in most movies and games about zombies, they never tackle the psychological damage that happens to the remaining survivors. It's always about the superhero that swoops in, kicks major zombie ass, and escapes to safety. But in a real apocalypse, It would be a lot more traumatic. There is one game I picked up that tries to show that side of it. If you follow the story, it does it very well for a game. I think that more movies and games should try to catch the uglier side of the zombie apocalypse.

Diet

As we all know, zombies are obsessed with brains. Weather they are a product of Romero's, or a newer producer trying to make a name for themselves, there's no denying that zombies hunger for brains. One has to wonder, however, if it's all a metaphor for how mankind should act. In a recent survey, it was found that American education was falling drastically. "...ranked the United States 14th out of 34 OECD countries for reading skills, 17th for science and a below-average 25th for mathematics."  So should we be more like the zombie hoards? Scrambling, trying desperately to get more "brains"? I think it's very important that not only as Americans, but as the Human race, we all need to act more like the zombie hoards when it comes to knowledge. Please remember: cannibalism is looked down upon.
