Death

I recently watched a movie called "The Grey" with Liam Neeson. It's a good movie about a few plane crash survivors who have to fend off wolves. In it, they talk a lot about death and faith. It made me think a lot about my own faith. In highschool, I always said that I wasn't afraid of death, just the process because I "knew where I was going" But recently, I started thinking more about Faith, God, life, and death. For some reason, I'm becoming more scared of death. Not because I don't believe in God anymore, but because of my (seemingly) shifting opinions on issues like the death penalty, same sex marriage, and other controversial issues. In the upcoming month or so (while I compile the list of 100 scary movies to watch) I will probably be posting a bit more about these issues. feel free to like it on StumbleUpon, comment, or just visit again.

The Avengers!!!!

So yesterday was the opening day of The Avengers, and I somehow managed to go to it despite being short on time and money. Before the review starts, let me tell you this up front. Search your couch cushions and car ashtrays. Try to come up with the 9$ it takes to see it in theaters because it...is...awesome. It had the original actors for Thor, Iron Man, Loki, Captain America, and Fury. The new actors were for the Hulk, Black Widow, and Bulls-eye. If You were debating seeing it, I would highly recommend it. Despite being action packed and suspenseful, it was also genuinely funny, in both a mature way and kid-friendly way. The suspense was actually suspenseful and involving. You felt like you were right there with them through the tough spots and the funny moments. All around, I give it 4.5 zombie hordes out of 5. It's a great movie.

BOBAFLEX!!!!!

So, as some of you may know, last night in Waterloo, Iowa, Bobaflex played a great show with Cur, Cornfed Bruiser, and Royal Bliss. Despite technical difficulty during Royal Bliss' set, they recovered very well when they finally got the speakers fit. while waiting for the speakers to get fixed, the lead singer of Royal Bliss (Neal Middleton) plugged in an acoustic guitar and played his cover of Simple Man. After their set, Bobaflex came on stage, and announced that Chris Grogan, their guitarist, was "bowing out gracefully" and that that show was his last. It seemed like it was for this reason that they put on an amazing show (I still cannot hear out of my left ear). Near the end of their set, Neal Middleton (of Royal Bliss) got on stage and started playing the extra set of drums on the back of the stage. During their last song, their lead singer jumped on the back of Neal and continued to sing perfectly, while all the other members of Bliss came out and hugged Grogan while he played, and just ended the night on an amazing note of friendship and epicness. Unfortunately, I forgot my camera at home, so I have no videos/pictures for you, but a lot of people in the first few rows had cellphone cameras out, recording so you could probably find some on YouTube. I still do not know which concert I will be attending next, but if you have suggestions that are in Iowa, let me know. (ABSOLUTELY NO pop.)

Walking Dead

As some of you may know, AMC's The Walking Dead is premiering at 8pm Central, which is in about 45 Min, which is a pretty big deal because as we all know it is possibly the greatest TV show on the planet. While sitting in my quiet yet urgent sense of OMG!!!! WHY ARE YOU TORMENTING ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, I came to the realization that since about 4pm , I have been trying to occupy myself but have failed. Horribly. So this post has nothing to do with philosophy, but it has everything to do with this insane tormentation that my love of zombies and tv has brought me. comment and tell me what you did to occupy yourself during the long, agonizing wait

Deviation

To my confused regular readers, I want to tell you that deviation (in this case me deviating from the zombie philosopher thing) can be awesome, so expect a few more reviews in the future, but I will try to do them on movies that are still new. Like "The Expendables 2"

Movie Review: The Darkest Hour

hey guys, sorry it's been so long since my last post, school and what not. Anyway, my girlfriend and I went to see The Darkest Hour when it first came out somewhere around Christmas time. I get if you didn't go when it was in theaters, I usually don't because it's so expensive; but It should be hitting your local video store sometime soon. If you have the time and a few bucks, I recommend it. The plot is well done and focuses on a different type of apocalypse-dealing aliens. These aliens decide to attack and steal all the power in Moscow, Russia. after doing this, they proceed to patrol the streets and crush whatever is left of the Russians. Oh, and they're invisible. because nothing induces fear like murderous invisible aliens who steal the power to turn on your PlayStation 3.
SMALL SPOILER************SMALL SPOILER***********SMALL SPOILER***************  When this thrilling neo-apocalypse adventure is over, it leaves the best present of all in your seat. The slightest hope of a second movie portraying the resistance. It will probably be named: The Darkest Hour 2: We Are Still Really Screwed but also Really, Really Hopeful.
NO MORE SPOILERS****************************************************************

Pros:all around good movie with lots of "Holy Crap!!!" moments.
Cons: Through out the movie, they lie. The story takes place in Russia, but somehow they always find water in water bottles. In the Russian apocalypse, they will ONLY have Vodka because it's Russia, even their "tap water" is just diluted vodka.
Overall Score: 4.5 mindless zombies out of 5. A good, solid movie
